Animal co-workers
The animals in Savikko are both our family members and professional co-workers.
Horses work in EASEL™ (equine assisted social emotional learning) and EAT (equine assisted therapy). They also work with us and our clients in the various riding, driving and liberty work.
The dogs of Savikko work in AASEL™/AAT and help us train new AASEL™ - instructors. Kennel Nightwings breeds healthy communicative dog personalities for social emotional learning and therapy work.
Bordercollie Trix was with us for over 13 years and passed a way in May. During his long life he e.g. worked four years in Beijing and climbed the Great Wall.
Trix's apprentice is Bordercollie ROY born in December 2007, officially Pikkupaimenen Good For Nothing.
Our fully trained SEL - dogs are the four-year-old flat coated retriever Sniffens Forest Anína "Annie" and two-year-old Sniffens Forbidden Color "Aida".
The Cat "Tiuhti" also passed a way in May. She was a great advocator for her native (Finnish) breed.
African Grey Parrots Papu and Olli enjoy daily freedom and flying outside on warm summer days. They also occationally participate in our AASEL programs.
French loopy ear bunny Viikka and Jack Russel - Basset Fawn de Bretaigne mix Ben are the latest arrivals in our team.
Åland sheep Melli, Lolli and Karkki form the start of our breeding program to help protect this endangered native breed. They also offer our clients a chance to learn to "talk sheep". The girls graze at liberty with the horses and have their own sleeping area inside the horses' sleeping barn.
